Ok, so I am taking the kids to Six Flags Great Adventure, in Jackson, NJ and we are waiting on line for our tickets and I see several flags flying nearby. One is the California state flag, another I don't recognize.
The one in the middle is one third blue with a white seal of some sort and the other 2/3rds of the flag is the confederate flag. Clearly, Six Flags is flying the state flags of the states it has other parks in, but this is New Jersey. I was a little offended.
I just googled it and the flag is from Georgia. Moreover, the flag they were flying is not even the current flag, but one that seems to have been retired in 2001. picture of old georgia flag
So why is Great America in New Jersey flying the outdated controversial confederate flag of Georgia? It caused quite a fuss down in Georgia for the governor there. It's ok in New Jersey? I am sending an email to Six Flags. Maybe you should too.
Note: In the grand scheme of things, this is not very important relative to war and taxes and poverty, etc. I just happened to be there with the kids and thought it was wrong.
